Florida Humanities brings the Beatles experience back to Jacksonville to commemorate the 60th anniversary of their 1964 Gator Bowl concert! The evening will feature a live performance from Beatles tribute band, Liverpool Live, and a conversation with ?Good Day Sunshine State? author and historian Bob Kealing. During the mid-60s, Beatlemania swept the nation as Americans faced great change during the Civil Rights Movement. The Beatles' insistence on performing only for racially integrated audiences was viewed as a notable show of support in the fight against segregation, highlighting their role as allies in the movement. Join us as we relive the timeless songs from the British pop band, and explore their historic impact and the hope that Americans carried for the country?s future. Doors open at 6 p.m. for book sales, book signings and museum tours. Photo opps with the band will be available. Groovy attire encouraged!
