RISING STAR JAZZ CHANTEUSE MARGOT SERGENT CELEBRATES HER DEDIDACATION TO JAZZ AND HER NATIVE FRENCH CULTURE WITH JAZZ CHANSONS SHOW AT THE BIRDLAND THEATER, JULY 11th @ 8:30 PM On July 11th at 8:30 pm, Margot returns to Birdland Theater to celebrate the recent release of her ZOHO Jazz label album; a disc that has been zooming up prominent jazz music charts (landing in the Top 10 on a couple), and receiving widespread airplay on alt-jazz stations including most played Sirius XM real jazz show. Douce France, Sweet France can be streamed and downloaded on all major platforms. He was among the five nominees for the LaMott Friedman Award 2024 at the Manhattan Association of Cabaret. She will share with her sextet, French infused standards, and French swing gems. With Patrick Sean Brennan on guitar, Peter Yarin on drum, Alec Safy on bass, Grammy Award-winner Linus Wyrsch on clarinet and saxophone, Clint de Ganon on drum, Margot Sergent will present for the first time in concert her own compelling original compositions, along with stirring renditions of French classics of Charles Trenet, Serge Gainsburg, Michel Legrand, and French infused standards to which Margot Sergent wrote their French versions, ll employing her mesmerizing voice and unique jazz language. More About Margot Sergent: A multi award-winning classical musician, 2024 LaMott Friedman Award nominee for best recording album Douce France Sweet France Margot Sergent started her music education at four years old. At eight, she appeared in one of Frances most popular national TV shows. She received a Performance Award at the exclusive Ecole Normale/Alfred Cortot University, where world famous composer Michel Damase was among the jury members . . . She has participated in tours with Archie Shepps protegee, Monica Passos, and number-one pop selling artist in France Nolwenn Leroy . . . Noticed by famed jazz pianist Kirk Lightsey and Pierre Boussaguet (bass player for Michel Legrand) during a jam performance at the Jazz Gallery of Berlinval, Margot was encouraged by her mentors to get a more complete jazz education . . . Before moving from Paris to New York City in 2015, Margot attended the Berklee College of Music in Boston, studying songwriting and jazz improvisation, and vocal performance with Maggie Scott, former vocal teacher to Diana Krall and Esperanza Spalding . . . In December 2022, Margot performed the show From Paris With Love at The Cutting Room, and The Margot Sergent Trio: A Parisian Cabaret Revival at City Vineyard. Also an actress, Margot has been a student of Jean Perominy and Jack Waltzer, and was recently featured recently in American Sports Stories on FX, and various commercials.
