Mariachi Extravaganza

The Mariachi Extravaganza is the largest mariachi music festival in the world for competitive mariachi. The 3-day event host National Mariachi Group and Vocal Competitions and culminates with a concert featuring competition winners and the Mexico City based Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlán. Mariachi Vargas is widely recognized as ?El Mejor Mariachi del Mundo? and has performed internationally for 6 generations. The group was founded by Gaspar Vargas in Tecalitlán, Jalisco, Mexico in 1897 and performed under the leadership of Maestro Ruben Fuentes for more than 60 years. Mariachi Vargas has participated in hundreds of recordings including the highly recognized Canciones de Mi Padre album with Linda Ronstadt and Luis Miguel?s Mexico en la Piel and Mexico Por Siempre albums. Currently, the group performs under the musical direction of Carlos Martinez and tours internationally with Luis Miguel.
