Dance-driven bass music meets expansive Indian classical and Sufi improvisations, coming together in a tightly produced immersive audio-visual set that creates a sacred space for listeners to join them on a journey to the innermost reaches of themselves. As solo artists, Raaginder and Asad Khan have seen their music streamed millions of times and been featured on Disneys Ms Marvel. As Mastan they are more than the sum of their parts, and have seen recent sold out shows in London, Los Angeles and at Vancouvers iconic Commodore Ballroom. In this year that has seen South Asian music take the world by storm, Mastan offers a more nuanced experience of the music of the subcontinent - sensitive, finely honed, and powerful - like their roots in the historical peoples of Punjab. More about Mastan from a recent WhatsApp thread:What does Mastan mean?Asad: its derived from the word mast. it is basically someone whos tapped in, tuned in whatever you wanna call it. kind of like a state of a natural high from life. mastane is someone who embodies that state of trance, there is a carefreeness to their movement/flow, usually have a pursuit of expression sum. Theres a pretty popular folk punjabi singer called Asa Singh Mastana lolRaaginder: In Sufi and Sikhism, when someone is in a trance through music/kirtan, at times they lose control and start dancing. That was my first introduction to the word mastane. When I saw a guy dancing at the gurudwara.Asad: yes! used a lot for people dancing in dhamaal in darbars in pakistan tooRaaginder: So kinda ties into surrendering yourself to life and art. The ones that let the universal force guide them.-----PLEASE NOTE: Vax and masks are no longer required, but masks are always encouraged.ENTRY REQUIREMENTS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE PENDING PROVINCIAL HEALTH REGULATIONS-----Limit of six tickets per household/credit card.Lineup, date, venue, times and ticket price subject to change without notice. All tickets sales are final. no exchanges, upgrades, or refunds.Any tickets purchased by suspected resellers are subject to cancellation without refund.
